In a recent article in the ACDA ChorTeach journal, Kansas professor Jeff Anderson reminded me of one of Stephen Covey’s axioms:

The main thing is to keep the main thing the main thing.

Whether it’s music, art, personal life, it’s so easy to be derailed by other cool ideas, other people’s plans or priorities.  Maybe this year, I’ll just have this one resolution – keeping the main thing the main thing and working on that.

PS – If you’re not sure what the main thing is, you should probably spend a little time on that.
